Binh Dinh has long been known as the “capital of exported timber” of the central region and is one of the most developed wood processing provinces in
Since its formation, the association has proactively implemented the industry development tasks. At the same time, it carries out regular activities like market price and material information for member enterprises, supports enterprises with trade promotion, marketing and training of sale skills and governance, organises exhibition trips in
In fact, in recent years, when enterprises of the same industry or related industries join hands together, their competitiveness will be sharper, ability to expand the market is stronger and they can compete with international rivals. Thus, to develop the wood processing and exporting sectors in Binh Dinh province, it is very necessary to reinforce and strengthen the role of the association. In the third term (2008-2011) starting in November 2008, the Binh Dinh Province Association for Production and Import - Export of Wood and Forest Products introduced operating orientations for the new term with many concrete programmes and solutions. Accordingly, the association will consolidate coordination with relevant units to grasp market information and customer taste for woodwork products to send to member enterprises. It will assist its members in conducting researches on manufacturing new products and models, marketing their products, building solutions to provide material sources, opening an information portal to update market information and introduce capacities of its members, organising training courses on exported woodwork processing, marketing and protecting legitimate rights and interests of its members. Mr. Nguyen An Diem, chairman of the association, said: This is a hard time for all industries but the wood industry in Binh Dinh will strive to earn USD400 million from export in 2009. The association will actively put forth more measures to solve difficulties for the wood-exporting sector. It will work with member enterprises to see new markets like Arab nations, former Soviet member countries,
By the end of December 2008, the association has 61 member companies, or more than 50 per cent of local wood companies. However, not all enterprises have tried their best for the common goal of mutual development. Therefore, the association’s new orientations will help local enterprises to survive in the hard time and make it a reliable address for all wood processors and exporters in Binh Dinh province.
