In the morning of July 24, 2009 at My Thanh Commune, Phu My District, Sai Gon - Quy Nhon Minerals Joint Stock Company (SQC), under the Saigon Invest Group held the groundbreaking ceremony for the biggest and most modern titanium slag factory in Vietnam with the total investment capital of VND1,000 billion, of which VND500 billion is for the first phase. Joining the event are Vice Chairman of the Binh Dinh People’s Committee Le Huu Loc, Vice Chairman Ho Quoc Dung, leaders of Phu My District, related agencies in the province and especially with the presence of Deputy President of the Lao National Assembly Saysomphone Phomvihane and Chairman of the Vietnam National Assembly Foreign Affairs Committee Nguyen Van Son.
The titanium slag factory with the most modern technology in Asia is constructed over an area of 10 hectares at My Thanh Commune, with the capacity of 24,000 tonnes of titanium slag per year for the first phase and 60,000 tonnes per year for the second phase, the high-purity titanium products up to 93% which currently is the highest purity in Vietnam. The project aims to increase the resource value, creating 500 job opportunities and make a considerable contribution to the local budget.
