Binh Dinh delegation meets with the Governor of Nagano prefecture, Japan

On the morning of April 10, 2024, the delegation led by Mr Ho Quoc Dung - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council had a warm meeting with Mr. Abe Shuichi - Governor of Nagano prefecture, Japan. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam in Japan.

At the meeting and working session, Mr. Ho Quoc Dung, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, briefed on the potential and strengths of Binh Dinh province, especially the investment environment and policy mechanisms to attract investment in Binh Dinh, land rental cost, exemption and reduction policies; labor source, cash flow for businesses... He emphasized that when investing in the economic zone and industrial parks, especially Becamex VSIP Binh Dinh Industrial Park. The Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung revealed that the tourism industry in Binh Dinh province was developing. Specifically, in March, Binh Dinh province successfully organized the F1 H20 international professional motorboat racing tournament with the participation of many racing teams around the world. It was the first time a province in Viet Nam hosted a world-class F1 motorboat race, and was assessed to be the most successful and beautiful hosting locality ever.

At the meeting and working session, Mr. Ho Quoc Dung, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, briefed on the potential and strengths of Binh Dinh province. He said that Binh Dinh, in addition to natural conditions, also had great human resources, good labour skill and techniques, especially human resources in science and technology; besides, the province always strived to improve the environment, incentive, attract investment, and meet the requirements of foreign investors.

Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung said that in 2023, Binh Dinh province's export turnover to the Japanese market was estimated to reach more than 275.3 million USD, increasing 31% compared to 2022. The main export products of Binh Dinh enterprises to Japan include: wood, garment products, seafood,... of which, wood products account for the highest proportion. As for import turnover, in 2023, Binh Dinh province had an estimated import turnover of nearly 64.7 million USD from Japan, an increase of 37% compared to 2022. The imported products include: seafood; raw materials for textiles, garments, leather, shoes, fertilizers of all kinds,... in which seafood products account for the highest proportion. The Provincial Party Secretary further informed that Binh Dinh was the locality with the largest tuna output nationwide now. The province's main products exported to Japan include: seafood, cassava and products from cassava, minerals and construction materials, chemicals, rattan plastic tables and chairs, wood of different kinds (wood chips, pellets, veneer,..), processed wood for interior and exterior, garment products, footwear, machinery, equipment and tools and spare parts, of which wood products (wood chips, wood pellets, veneer, etc.) had the highest turnover.

To date, the province has attracted 19 projects from Japanese investors (accounting for 22% of the province's total number of FDI projects), with a value of 94.17 million USD (including 10 Industrial projects of 72.30 million USD, 7 trade and service projects of 1.03 million USD, 2 agriculture projects of 20.84 million USD). These projects are operating effectively, contributing to job and income creation for people in Binh Dinh province.

In addition, Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung said that the tourism industry in Binh Dinh province is on a strong development path. Specifically, last March, Binh Dinh province successfully organized the F1 H20 international professional motorboat racing tournament with the participation of many racing teams around the world. This is the first time a Vietnamese province has hosted a world-class F1 motorboat race, and is considered by the racing teams to be the most successful and beautiful hosting locality ever.

On this occasion, Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung invited Nagano prefecture to visit Binh Dinh, thereby connecting special businesses in tourism and high-tech agriculture industries.

On this occasion, Mr Ho Quoc Dung, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee reviewed the more than 50-year relationship between Vietnam and Japan since the establishment of diplomatic relations. Determining Japan as an important partner, Binh Dinh province has focused on promoting the image, potential, advantages, and socio-economic achievements of the province to Japanese partners; the purposes were to invite Japanese investors to cooperate and invest in the province. So far, 2 local-level cooperation agreements have been signed: the Provincial People's Committee and Izumisano City Government in Osaka Prefecture; and the People's Committee of Vinh Thanh District and Yoshino Town Government in Nara Province.

Mr Ho Quoc Dung expressed his hope that Binh Dinh province and Nagano prefecture will establish partnership in the near future. It will enhance the relationship between Vietnam and Japan in general and the relationship between Binh Dinh province and Nagano prefecture in particular. He revealed that in the coming time, Becamex IDC Corporation and Becamex Binh Dinh Joint Stock Company will play a connecting role to strengthen the cooperative relationship of cultural exchange and investment.

Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Japan encouraged Binh Dinh province and Nagano prefecture to establish a partnership to support each other’s development. The Vietnamese Embassy in Japan would actively connect, promote investment and cultural exchange activities and support two sides in enhancing the friendly relationship.

Mr. Abe Shuichi - Governor of Nagano prefecture asserted that Nagano is a region famous for growing and producing fruit and vegetables. In addition, it is also an industrial center producing electronics, machinery and food. Nagano prefecture is also known as the land of high mountains in Japan with many famous tourist destinations. In recent years, Nagano prefecture has attracted many international students to come and study here. He expressed his joy and was very impressed with the information shared by Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung. The Governor of Nagano prefecture also expressed his agreement that two provinces needed to strengthen investment promotion activities, cultural exchanges, and enhance mutual understanding of the localities.

Mr Ho Quoc Dung thanked the Governor of Nagano prefecture for the enthusiastic welcome. He hoped that the Governor would spread information about Binh Dinh province to prospective businesses and investors who are suitable for the investment fields Binh Dinh province is calling for.
