On the afternoon of June 2, 2023, the provincial delegation led by Mr Pham Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (PPC), paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Yamaguchi Nobuhiko, Deputy Governor of Osaka Prefecture, Japan.

Chairman Pham Anh Tuan expressed thanks to the respectful reception of the Osaka government, he assessed that Japan has been an important partner of Binh Dinh since the year 2012; with the support of the central government and ministries, Binh Dinh has made efforts to promote its image, potential and advantages, actively organize promotion missions in the Japanese market and create a good impression on Japanese investors and enterprises. The province has also established and strengthened cooperation relationship with the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Association in Sakai City, Yoshino town... and many other localities of Japan, especially Osaka Palace.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuan said, so far, the province has attracted 19 projects from Japanese investors and enterprises (accounting for 22% of the province's total FDI projects), with a total registered capital of USD 94, 17 million. Japanese projects operate effectively, contributing to creating jobs and raising incomes for people in Binh Dinh province. However, not many businesses and investors of Osaka prefecture have made investment and not many commercial contracts of the two sides have been signed.
In 2022, the export turnover to the Japanese market reached more than USD 176.7 million, accounting for 32% of goods exported to other Asian countries. Specifically, in the first 4 months of 2023 the figure reached USD 89.48 million, accounting for 45%. Import turnover, in 2022, Binh Dinh province will reach more than 36.8 million USD of goods imported from Japan, accounting for 11% compared to the import of goods from other countries in Asia. In the first four months of 2023, Japan's imports reached USD 20.13 million, accounting for 22% of imports to other Asian countries. The province's main products exported to Japan include: seafood, cassava and cassava products, minerals and building materials, chemicals, plastic rattan furniture, wood of all kinds (wood chips, wood pellets, veneer, ..), refined interior and exterior wood, garment products, shoes, machinery and equipment and spare parts.

Yamaguchi Nobuhiko, Deputy Governor of Osaka appreciated the cooperation between Binh Dinh province and Osaka. Osaka government is always ready to create favorable conditions for companies and businesses of Binh Dinh in exchanges, discussions, and exploration of opportunities to establish and strengthen cooperation with Japanese partners, especially Osaka Prefecture.
Mr. Yamaguchi Nobuhiko said: In 2023, Japan and Viet Nam celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing the diplomatic relation, the relationship that is said to have "infinite potential" of two countries who are approaching a period of significant development. We hope that the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relation will be an opportunity to look back on the Japan-Viet Nam relationship so far, and create a foundation for that relationship to further develop in the future, reaching out to the regional and international level as partners of equal status for mutual benefits.
On behalf of Osaka Government, Mr. Yamaguchi Nobuhiko invited leaders of Binh Dinh province to attend events organized by Osaka prefecture in June 2023.
Two sides agreed to keep high-level contacts between the two governments to effectively implement specific activities, promote investment and business cooperation, especially promoting the key areas that the province Binh Dinh is looking at, which includes: manufacturing and processing industry, tourism services, logistics and transportation, high-tech agriculture, urbanization; the aim is to develop all fields on the principle of sustainable development as a top priority.

The government of Osaka prefecture also appreciated the strategic orientations of Binh Dinh province with a vision to 2030, a vision to 2050 and believes that this new strategy will create outstanding development for Binh Dinh province. At the invitation of Chairman Pham Anh Tuan, Mr. Yamaguchi Nobuhiko, Deputy Governor of Osaka prefecture will join the business delegation of Osaka to attend the Investment Promotion Conference of Japanese enterprises in Binh Dinh in July 2023.
It was the last activity of Binh Dinh province's business trip to Japan from May 31 to June 3, 2023. In general, the business trip of Binh Dinh province took place successfully. Through open and friendly meetings and exchanges, Binh Dinh province, Japanese localities and partners have gradually deepened mutual cooperation. It’s a good effect for recovery after Binh Dinh province and other localities of Japan have been significantly influenced by the Covid-19 epidemic.
