Direct flights are the strong commitment of Bamboo Airways

At 19:25 on September 23, at the headquarter of Bamboo Airways, a ceremony of assigning the crew to carry out the first direct flight between Vietnam and the United States took place, this is an important milestone asserting the operating capacity and level of management, safety, security and infrastructure of Bamboo Airways in particular, and that of Vietnam's aviation industry in general.

The event is a continuation of Bamboo Airways' series of large-scale activities in the US market which started since September 21: Announcement of a direct route between Vietnam and the United States, and launch of the General Agent in the US market, an agreement signed to select GENx engines and maintenance package for Boeing 787-9 aircraft worth about USD 2 billion with GE Aviation under the witness of the President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, an agreement signed with CFM International on selection of LEAP-1A engines and maintenance service for all 50 A320/A321neo aircrafts ordered from Airbus.

Hanoi - San Francisco is the flight route with a distance of nearly 12,500km, the longest in the world. The flight is operated by a wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner named Quy Nhon City, the most modern of Bamboo Airways’ current fleet. As a result, the flight mobilized a significant number of flight members up to nearly 25 people, including pilots, flight attendants, technical staff, and ground staff.

Bamboo Airways expects that if conditions allow, the Vietnam - US route will come into operation from the beginning of 2022, with a starting frequency of 3 flights/week, and will quickly increase to 5-7 flights/week on the basis of market demand.

To bring the image of Quy Nhon City to the United States

For Binh Dinh province (where Bamboo Airways has chosen as the venue for its launch event as well as its headquarter at Phu Cat airport), this flight named "Quy Nhon City" has such a powerful meaning, in which the brand, image and people of Quy Nhon - Binh Dinh are side by side with the crew on the historical milestone of the aviation industry, crossing the Pacific Ocean to land on the United States. Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh  Province has become one of the strategic markets of Bamboo Airways in the near future, opening up opportunities for cultural and social exchanges, economic development, trade and service in the province.
