Promoting an offshore wind power Project of billions of dollars

On the afternoon of December 15, 2020, at the Office of the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Phi Long and leaders of concerned departments and sectors had a meeting the SOL Group (Federal Republic of Germany) led by Mr. Tran Minh, the senior director - Offshore Wind Power of the PNE group and Mr. Marko Walde, Chief Representative of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam.

At the meeting, PNE group expressed wishes to start the offshore wind power project in Phu Cat and Phu My districts soon. The boundaries of the proposed survey area has a total area of about 960.5 km2 (17km x 56.5km). Estimated capacity is about 2000MW, including 154 turbines, each with a capacity of 13 MW.
The project is implemented in three phases. In which, Phase 1 has a capacity of 700MW; Phase 2 a capacity of 600MW and Stage 3 a capacity of 600MW. The total investment capital for all three phases is USD 4.87 billion.
PNE requested the Provincial People's Committee to submit Binh Dinh offshore wind power project to the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade for consideration and supplementation to the National Power Plan (Power Master Plan 8).
Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Phi Long appreciated the determination to implement the project of the Group and he made strong commitments to support the investor. If implemented, it will be an important energy project and will be a foreign direct investment project with the biggest capital ever licensed in Binh Dinh, which will contribute significant power supply for Binh Dinh province and the national power system.
