It can be said that aviation plays an important role in the sustainable development. Thanks to aviation, tourism and trade have opportunities to create economic growth, provide jobs, and increase income tax. When Phu Cat airport is transformed into an international airport in the master plan on development of the national airport system in the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, it will meet the demand of transporting passengers, enabling the province to attract domestic and foreign tourists and promoting the tourism image of the province.

The Airport Corporation of Vietnam has invested in upgrading infrastructure of Phu Cat Airport, which includes: upgrading the parking lot, domestic terminals, information system, flight signals,... to put into operation. Also, the old terminal has been upgraded to accommodate international visitors. Therefore, Phu Cat airport’s infrastructure basically meets the needs of domestic and international passengers. The airport currently has 7 parking lots; the station has capacity to serve 600 passengers/peak hour, being able to accommodate up to 1.5 million passengers/year.

Bamboo Airways of FLC group chose Phu Cat Airport to Phu Cat Airport to build its flying base. It is the first and the only airlines enterprise that chooses Binh Dinh to establish its head quarter. Previously, on January 4, 2020, Phu Cat Airport officially welcomed the first international flight from Korea, performed by this airline. Currently, airlines such as Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet and Bamboo Airways have also developed plans and organized to operate international flights to meet the tourism development demand. It is expected that airlines will provide international flights to serve tourists from Quy Nhon to countries like Thailand, Japan, Korea, China,. . . and vice versa via Phu Cat Airport.
