Binh Dinh Province signs an agreement to establish friendship and cooperation with Izumisano city, Osaka Prefecture, Japan

On the morning of October 21, 2019, at the Office of the Provincial People's Committee (PPC), a partnership and cooperation agreement between Binh Dinh province People's Committee and the government of Izumisano city, Osaka Prefecture, Japan took place in warm and friendly atmosphere.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Umeda Kunio, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam; Mr. Kato Hitoshi, Chairman of Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association in Sakai; Member of Binh Dinh Provincial Development Consulting Council; Mr. Chiyomatsu Hiroyasu, Mayor of Izumisano city.

On Binh Dinh's side, the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Tung, the Chairman and the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of relevant departments.

At the ceremony, the PPC Chairman Ho Quoc Dung introduced an overview of Binh Dinh’s socio-economic situation and policies to attract investment. Especially, in the first nine months of 2019, the province has achieved some outstanding results in agriculture, industry and trade - services; the number of tourist arrivals to the province reached 4.14 million, up 19.8% and tourism revenue increased 52.4% compared to the same period last year, the total state budget revenue reached 10,000 billion VND. Also, the PPC Chairman Ho Quoc Dung revealed that Binh Dinh province has recently established good cooperation relations with many localities of Japan, organized numerous investment promotion missions to Japan. At present, Japanese enterprises have implemented 18 investment projects with registered capital of nearly 100 million USD, significantly the project of Fujiwara Joint Stock Company with a total capital of 63.7 million USD is the first renewable energy project of Fujiwara Company in Vietnam. Besides, a number of Vietnamese and Japanese businesses have initially made connection and consumed tuna products of fishermen. In particular, the province has established Koi Fish Development Centre (in which Mr. Kato Hiroshi, Chairman of Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association in Sakai donated more than 115 koi fish to the province for experimental farming and the results were successful).

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Chiyomatsu Hiroyasu - Mayor of Izumisano City, said the signing ceremony had an immense meaning for the development of Izumisano City, which claimed itself as "international city" in 2017 in order to promote cooperation with many cities all over the world. So far Izumisano has established partnership relations with 8 cities around the world. He asserted that the bilateral relationship between two sides was increasingly developing through exchanges between the people and activities of cooperation and business and investment promotion of enterprises of two sides.

Ambassador Umeda Kunio made a speech to congratulate Binh Dinh Province and Izumisano City for the excellent friendship and cooperation. He strongly believed that in the coming time, the people of two sides would intensify the exchange and cooperation activities and more investors from Japan would come to Binh Dinh province to make investment.

In response, Binh Dinh PPC Chairman Ho Quoc Dung affirmed that with the potential and strengths of Binh Dinh province and Izumisano city, two sides would strive to bring the bilateral cooperation to the new level for the sake of the people, the security and development of two areas.
