“Meet Europe 2018” conference – Opportunity for connection and collaboration with developed partners

In order to strengthen support for localities in making connections with foreign partners effectively, on 25th May 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Hanoi People's Committee in collaboration with the Delegation of the European Union and the European Business Association organized the "Meet Europe 2018" conference in Hanoi.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc delivers a keynote speech at the conference
The conference was attended by, on the Vietnamese side, the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, leaders of many relevant ministries, leaders and representatives of provinces and cities, departments and local businesses and many typical businesses in the country. On the European side, there were ambassadors, representatives, consul generals and representatives of European Embassies in Vietnam, European agencies and organizations for development cooperation, economics, trade, education and culture... , European Business Associations and European businesses are doing business in Vietnam and other countries in the region. The delegation of Binh Dinh Province was led by the standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Cao Thang, with members were leaders of Departments of Planning and Investment, External Affairs, Construction, Transport and the Provincial Centre of Investment Promotion.
Many important speeches were delivered at the conference focusing on the results of cooperation between Vietnam and Europe, outlook on the European Union (EU)-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement, outlook on the European Free Trade Association (EFTA)-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement. Representatives of European businesses shared a lot of in-sight presentations on cooperation potentials in high quality products, clean energy and smart cities, agriculture and aquabusiness, infrastructure and logistics, industry 4.0 and vocational training, tourism and hospitality…
The conference has been confirmed as one of the most successful event with impressing number of attendants. The presentations of European delegates shared messages that emphasized the importance of sustainable development, development in association with innovation and the dynamic government. In the context of significantly improved Vietnam-EU economic relations, the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement has been signed and the EFTA-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement will be expectedly signed this year, the Government of Vietnam believes that openness and strengths are being created for investors from EU countries, affirmed Mr Bui Thanh Son, Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in the closing speech of the conference.In recent years, a number of partners from European countries have made visits to Binh Dinh in order to study investment environment in Binh Dinh province; however, the number of European investors decides to invest in the province is very limited. Currently, there are 7 projects of European investors with total capital of USD 62.82 million in different fields such as pharmaceutical production, animal feed, resorts, garments... With regard to local potentials and strengths, the province is luring investment from Europe in tourism, high-tech agriculture, seafood processing, electric and electronic industry, engines for boats, wood processing, waste treatment ...
