Ground breaking ceremony of Cu Mong pass tunnel construction

Late on the morning of 26th September, Ministry of Transportand Communication (MTC) in collaboration with Deo Ca Investment Pass JointStock company held a ground breakingceremony of Cu Mong pass tunnel construction (under Deo Ca pass constructionproject).

 

Cu Mong pass construction project is located in Binh Dinh andPhu Yen provinces and it is part of Deo Ca pass tunnel project with totallength of 6.62km, of which Cu Mong pass has length of 2.6km.

The MTC has approved the total capital of VND 3,921 billion of CuMong pass tunnel project and assigned the Project Management 85 to representthe state authority, Deo Ca InvestmentPass Joint Stock company to be the project owner.

The project has two stages, the first stage will construct 2parallel tunnels 30m apart, each tunnel has width of 9.75m. One tunnel will becompleted for two-way traffic (one lane each way) and the other tunnel is forrefuge. The first stage is expected to complete in 2018.

The second stage (expected to end by 2040) will complete theother tunnel for traffic flow so that each tunnel serves one way of trafficwith two lanes.

Once completed, Cu Mong pass tunnel willsignificantly improve traffic conditions on the National Highway 1, particularlyon Binh Dinh and Phu Yen section, contributing to socio-economic development ofsouthern Binh Dinh and northern Phu Yen as well as neighbouring areas.

Previously, at 7:30am on the same day, the MTCand Deo Ca Investment Pass Joint Stock company held aceremony to open traffic flow of Co Ma tunnel (in Dai Lanh commune, Van Ninhdistrict, Khanh Hoa province).
