European Union visiting delegation met with Binh Dinh DPI

07/01/2015, a delegation of European Union (EU)led by Mr Bryan Fornari, Deputy Head of Cooperation, had a meeting withDepartment of Planning and Investment (DPI) in order to collect information andto prepare for implementation of specific programs of EU in Vietnam. Mr HaThanh Hai, Deputy Director of DPI and representatives of several specializeddivisions had a discussion with the team.

 

Atthe meeting, the delegation announced assistance in two packages valued EUR 400million lasting 6 years from 2015-2020 for Sustainable Energy and public governancevia ODA fund. The objective of the Sustainable Energy package is to boost thesector development through clean energy and effective use of renewable energy,to increase the rate of using new sources of energy per total energy amount inVietnam so that all people get access to reliable and sustainable energy.

Regarding assistance inpublic government, EU will assist in increasing the state government, promotedemocracy and participation of people in the area. The package is also expectedto help the local government to improve capacity in planning and developinglong-term and specific plans. In the near future, EU will exchange informationwith the locality to carry out necessary activities.

The delegation and leaderof DPI exchanged views on constraints in administration and public services inthe province for the European enterprises and foreign investors. The delegationexpressed interest in mineral exploitation in Binh Dinh.

At the end of themeeting, Mr Nguyen Thanh Hai expressed appreciation of EU partnership and hopedto have opportunity to cooperate with the delegation. He said Binh Dinh washopeful that more European entrepreneurs would come to invest in the locality.
