Oversea Vietnamese entrepreneurs from Udon Thani – Thailand visits Binh Dinh

Onthe afternoon of 05/9/2014, in Quy Nhon city, the Provincial People’s Committeecollaborated with Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam held a seminar “Meeting with oversea Vietnamese entrepreneurs from Udon Thani anddiscussion on investment opportunities in Binh DInh”

The seminar was attendedby former President Nguyen Minh Triet, leaders of Binh Dinh province,  BIDV; various departments and representativesof enterprises and associations in the Binh Dinh and central region.

The oversea Vietnamese(Viet Kieu) team included 60 people led by Mr Nguyen Van Trung, Chairman of theUdon Thani Viet-Thai Entrepreneur Association.

The Chairman Le Huu Locpresented a brief overview of Binh Dinh and its socio-economic situation. Thepetrochemical refinery complex with capital up to USD 22 billion that PTTPublic Company Limited has registered to invest was highlighted in hispresentation.

In his speech, FormerPresident Nguyen Minh Triet appreciated the role of Vietnamese Association andThai Viet Entrepreneur Association in Udon Thani. He also emphasized theimportance of nurturing traditional values among Viet Kieu and especially atthe Uncle Ho Memorial Site. The President called for the devotion of Viet Kieuto the development of their homeland and Binh Dinh itself.

Mr Nguyen Quang Trungprovided the participants with a profile of Udon Thani. The province covers anarea of 11.730 km2, the fourth largest province in Thailand, population of 1.4million people with great potentials and strength of cultural heritages,service and tourism. He stressed that Udon Thani was well connected withcentral provinces of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanma. While Binh Dinh hasadvantages of traffic, especially sea ports and is constructing infrastructureto lure investment, provinces in Northeast Thailand is far away from the seaand there are not enough workers. Therefore, Thai enterprises are shiftingtheir investment to neighbouring countries, namely Laos, Cambodia and especiallyVietnam.

Thai entrepreneurs arevery interested in cooperation with Binh Dinh in sectors like processing,tourism, service…with priority in small and medium-sized enterprises. Throughthe connection between different organizations, Thailand-Vietnam partnership issignificantly increasing. Vietkieu entrepreneurs in Udon Thani are looking foropportunities to invest and run business in Binh Dinh in the future, which willdefinitely enhance transactions between the two nations.
