Non-refundable ODA from Australian government for Binh Dinh province

The Prime Minister has made an approval of theproject “Integrated management of water, soil and nutrition for sustainablecultivation systems in the coastal central southern region and Australia” usingODA fund of Australian government through the Australian Centre for International. Agricultural Research (ACIAR).

 

The project isimplemented in two provinces of Binh Dinh and Ninh Thuan for four years fromJune 2014 – June 2018. It has total capital of AUD 2,179,221, of whichnon-refundable ODA from Australian government is AUD 1,264,997 (equivalent toVND 25.3 billion), counterpart fund AUD 932,224 (equivalent to VND 18.65billion).  Ministry of Agriculture andRural Development is the owner of the project.

The project aims atevaluating the use of underground water and quality of this water resource inthe central southern region, evaluating in order to improve the effectivenessof water use on fields and evaluating the possibility of improvement tominimize the limitations of soil and reduce nutrition erosion; identify potentialtechnical measures of soil and water management for farmers and extendedprogram in the Central Southern region. It is expected to improve thelivelihood for small scale farms and sustainable management of water resources.Also, techniques and strategies of sustainable use of underground water will bedeternined and options for improving soil productivity in the central southern region and Australia will bedeveloped.
