Big C officially opens in Binh Dinh

Big C has been granted investment license forBig C Quy Nhon project. On 16/5/2014, Big C Quy Nhon officially launched its operation

Vietnam is a potential retailmarket with more than 90 million people, young population; average income andshopping demand are increasing.

At present, most trademarks of retail groups in the world havecome to Vietnam,Big C is not an exception. This seems to prove that Vietnamis really an attractive market and its is also an opportunity for consumers in Vietnam tobenefit modern services.

According to the planning for supermarkets, trade centres ofthe Ministry of Industry and Trade, by 2020, there will be 1,200 - 1,300supermarkets and 180 trade centres nationwide. It is forecast that by 2020, theretail ratio via supermarkets and 180 trade centres will account for 45% of thetotal retail quantity in society. Vietnam has proved to be an openmarket for expanding retail system.

Binh Dinh has favourable natural and geographical featuresfor developing trade centres and supermarkets. Located in the central coastalarea and key economic region with National Highway connecting to the ample marketof the Highland, Binh Dinh owns great conditions for whole sale, retails andgoods exchange not only in the regions itself but also inter-regionally.

Binh Dinh is rich in labour force. Population of working agemakes up a high ratio, around 56% of the total population and the annualincreasing rate is of about 1.5%.

Quy Nhon city has been recognized as a city of level 1;however, retail ratio via supermarkets and trade centres account forapproximately 2% only of total retail ratio in the region. With the economicgrowth over the last few years, the living standards of the local people inBinh Dinh province in general and Quy Nhon city in particular has graduallyimproved. However, supermarket system established has small scale with very fewstandard ones such as Metro, Coopmart.
