German government’s technical assistance for drainage and flood control in urban areas to Binh Dinh

The Ministry of Construction (MoC) has recently decided to approve the project document of Technical Assistance of the drainage and flood control for medium-sized cities in Vietnam coastal region in adaptation to climate change funded by the German government.

 

Accordingly, the project is carriedout in Ha Noi (MoC) and 05 provinces of Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, QuangNgai and Soc Trang. The project’ total capital is 5.72 million Euro, of which theGovernment of Germany (ODA) donated 5.2 million Euro from the non-refundable grantand the Vietnamcontributes 520,000 Euro. Vietnam Ministry of Construction includes 270thousand Euro, PPCs in project 50 thousand Euro. The project is implemented for 05 years, fromNovember 2013 to October 2018.

The goal of the project is to strengthen the drainage managementand flood control in adaptation to climate change in urban areas and MekongDelta plains and coastal plains of Vietnam.

The project consists of 02 main components: The firstcomponent of central government level to support the assessment of drainage andflooding in urban areas of Vietnam; support to prepare master plan for drainageand sewage; support for the research process and implementation of action planfor drainage and flood control in response to climate change....The second component of provincial/city level tosupport the assessment and integration of climate change activities withactivities related to water drainage; supporting the provinces in preparing theplanning of urban drainage.

In Binh Dinh, in recent years the German Government has funded 02 non-refundableprojects including Canh Tien Towerrestoration project of 100,000 Euro and Forest Rehabilitation and SustainableForest Management (DAKFW6) of 9,715 million Euro.
