Binh Dinh People’s Committee collaborated with the Regional Coordination Board of Central Coastal Provinces held a conference on ‘Experience in investment attraction and infrastructure development of industrial parks in the Central Coastal Region’. The event was attended by leaders of relevant Ministries and sectors; leaders of 9 Central Coastal Provinces, Management Boards of Economic Zones (EZ) and Industrial  Parks (IP), experts, enterprises and domestic and foreign investors.

So far, the central coastal region including of Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa has established 42 IPs with total area over 13,870ha under the approval of the Prime Minister. Over the last 10 years, the region has lured investment in infrastructure and many projects in the IPs. Some IPs are fully filled and go into operation effectively. 24 IPs with an area over 5,430ha completely constructed have attracted many big investors, creating more jobs, contributing to the government budget and the economic structure transformation in the area.

However, there exist various issues to be solved such as ineffective use of capital for construction and investment, delayed filling of IPs and unsuccessful investment attraction. Especially, investment attraction policies are not efficient and not well-linked. IPs in the same locality are not linking together well enough and the environment is not well protected. Therefore, it is very important to establish and implement policies and mechanism of linkage to develop IPs in the central coastal region and to ensure steady and sustainable growth. Each locality must identify their strength and advantages to invest in IPs appropriately.

At the conference, two provinces of Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan were admited to join the development cooperation in the region. In addition, leaders of 13 management boards of IPs, EZs and high tech zones in 9 central coastal provinces signed the development cooperation programme in the fields such as attracting investment, training human resource and sharing experiences… in order to increase competitve advantages and efficiency of these IPs, EZs and high tech zones in the areas.

The 5th conference with the topic on "Developing tourism products suitable with the central coastal provinces’ advantages" expected to take place in June 2013 and will be organized in Khanh Hoa province.
