Binh Dinh taking efforts to attract investment from Japan

On the afternoon of 24.02.2012, Mr Le Huu Loc, Chairman ofBinh Dinh People’s Committee and representatives of the Departments of Planningand Investment, Industry and Commerce, Culture, Sports and Tourism,Construction, Transport, and Nhon Hoi EZ Administration held a meeting with thevisiting team of Binh Dinh Association of countrymen from Ho Chi Minh City ledby Mr Nguyen Duc Dien, the Deputy. Teamwas followed by Mr. Nguyen Trung Dung, Vietnamese Minister Counselor in Japan, Ms Nguyen Thi Thuy Van, Hanoi’sInvestment Promotion Representative in Japan and some other members.

At the meeting, Mr. LeHuu Loc identified Japanese enterprises as the principal target that theprovince is aiming at for attracting investment. Currently, Binh Dinh is calling forinvestment in the fields where Japanese investors have strong advantages suchas supportive industries, especially for wood processing, garment and leather,construction, urban infrastructure, transportation, industry, health care,industrial clusters/zones infrastructure, coconut-based products, seafoodprocessing plants, ... And investment in mining, fishing, preservation and saleof tuna also has specially great potentials. Therefore, Binh Dinh province willprepare necessary conditions for organizing an investment promoting seminar in Japan in 2012.

According to Nguyen TrungDung, at present Japanese investors are shifting investment from Southeast Asiacountries, including Vietnam. Therefore, it is very important thatBinh Dinh identify Japanese investors as the key partner to lure investment. In addition, he also proposed that seaport; airport and traffic infrastructure projects should take advantage of Japan's ODAfund to finance these projects. Heencouraged Binh Dinh to carefully prepare comprehensive information on land,incentives and business environment and investment procedures... so that themost efficient support can be timely provided for Japanese entrepreneurs.
