The Deputy Prime Minister has recently approved for upgrading the National Highway 19 from Quy Nhon Seaport to the intersection with the National Highway 1A.

The Deputy Prime Minister assigned Binh Dinh People’s Committee to collaborate with the Ministry on Transport to decide on the capital source and management for the construction.

The National Highway 19 is a strategic and key road of provinces of Phu Yen, Binh Dinh and Quang Ngai leading to Highland provinces. The road from Quy Nhon Seaport to the intersection with the National Highway 1A is quite narrow and goes through the intramural area of Quy Nhon city, towns and crowded areas; therefore, the increasing traffic demand is not met and the accident rate is high along this road.

Lately, Binh Dinh People’s Committee has requested the Ministry of Planning and Investment to seek for the approval for the upgrading investment of the National Highway 19 previously approved by the Prime Minister for the stage 2012-2015. Accordingly, the road from Quy Nhon port to the intersection with the National Highway will meet standards of Road level I, II with 4-6 lanes. The invested capital will be from the national budget and the construction will kick off from 2012.
