Phu My town where water resources are heavily polluted with both alum and iron, there has not been any clean water project here for a long time. Therefore, the inhabitants of the town must still use the contaminated water resources. For this reason, in 2005, the Kingdom of Belgian has financed Binh Dinh Province with project "Improvement of living standards in the town of Phu My  through access to clean water - VIE 04 023 11” which is part of the bilateral cooperation between the Government of Vietnam and the Kingdom of Belgium.

The project worth Euro 1.2 million, with the capacity of 1,200 m3/ day aims to provide running water to over 13,000 inhabitants and health clinics, schools, public projects in Phu My District. In addition, the project helps to train the administrative  and technical staff and increase the population’s awareness of how to use the pipe correctly and the need of environmental sanitation.
