In the morning of June 10, 2009 at Binh Tri Hamlet, My Quang Commune, Phu My District, the Inauguration Ceremony of the Phu My water treatment plant construction project was held with the presence of Mr Hubert Cooreman- Ambassador of Belgium in Vietnam; Mr Patrick De Bouck- Counsellor of Development Cooperation division (Embassy of Belgium in Vietnam); Mr Dirk Deprez - Resident Representative of Belgian Technical Co-operation in Hanoi (BTC), Mr Le Van Tam – Member of the provincial People’s Committee, Director of the Department of Planning and Investment; leaders of Phu My District; related agencies in the province and individuals involved in the implementation of the project.

On May 29, 2009, the People’s Committee of Binh Dinh Province granted investment certificate for Han Huy private enterprise to invest in constructing the nylon bag production plant, capitalized at VND3.5 billion.

The export turnover of May of 2009 is estimated to reach USD19.2 million, down by 47.2% compared with the same period last year. The accumulation in export turnover of the first five months is estimated to reach USD144.7 million, achieving 36.2% of the year plan, decreased by 22.7% against the same period last year.

Signing co-operation MOU between Binh Dinh Forest Products Association and Dongguan Famous Furniture Association

On 19 May 2009, in Quy Nhon City, the People’s Committee of Binh Dinh Province co-ordinates with Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), Dongguan Famous Furniture Association(DFFA), Guangdong Province, China, to hold the seminar on investment co-operation opportunities for interior furniture processing. Those at attendance are Mr Pham Van Thanh, Permannent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Mr Nguyen Van Thien, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and Mr Le Huu Loc, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Mr Tran Bac Ha, Chairman of BIDV, provincial agencies, 21 enterprises of Dongguan Famous Furniture Association and over 80 wood processing enterprises in Binh Dinh Province.

In the morning of 20 May 2009, the grand opening ceremony of Cali Hotel situated at 61-64 Hoang Quoc Viet St., Quy Nhon City was held by Cali Hotel Limited Company. Joining the ceremony are leaders and representatives of Departments of Planning and Investment; Culture, Sports ant Tourism and other agencies.

The Prime Minister has just released the Decision on establishing Binh Dinh Province Economic Zone Authority on the basic of unifying Nhon Hoi Economic Zone Authority (founded in 2005) and Binh Dinh Province Industrial Zones Authority (founded in 1999).

The Investment promotion center of Binh Dinh Province co-ordinating with Danang’s Institute of information Technology for Business (under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, VCCI), and VCCI have chosen seven export enterprises over the Binh Dinh province for Program: "Supporting Vietnamese Exporters to Penetrate U.S. Market". Those are Binh Dinh Footwear Joint Stock Company, Binh Dinh Garment JSC, Binh Dinh Fishery JSC, Phu Tai SJC, Anh Viet Limited Company, My Tai Co., Ltd, Khai Vy Quy Nhon Co., Ltd. Of 100 export companies joining the Program over the country, there are 28 ones of the Central and Highland Region. Especially, on 19/05/2009, VCCI will hold the seminar “Supporting Vietnam’s exporters to enter the U.S. market via IT application” in Danang City.

The People’s Committee of Binh Dinh Province has just had the Decision to ratify the Quy Nhon SOS Chlildren’s Village Project which will be invested at Nhon Binh Ward (Quy Nhon) by the International SOS Chlildren’s Village. The Vietnam SOS Chlildren’s Village willl be the investor’s representative.

The total export turnover of the first quarter of 2009 of the enterprises located in Binh Dinh Province reached USD98.6 million, down 11.2% compared to the same period last year (USD111 million) and achieving 24.7% of the year plan.

On 20 April 2009, the People’s Committee of Binh Dinh Province signed the dispatch agreeing in principle to permit the Central Mineral Joint Stock Company to submit the fully made project of exploiting and processing iron ore at Hoai Thanh Tay Commune, Hoai Nhon District and at the same time to conduct the survey and exploiting of the iron ore at Phu My District for the supplemental material resource.

The Joint-Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) has become the first domestic partner of the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment to provide banking services to foreign direct investment (FDI) businesses.

Vietnam is estimated to have attracted over USD6 billion of FDI in the first quarter of this year, down 40 per cent on year, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI).

The People Committee of Binh Dinh Province has just licenced the investment certificate for the FDI project to establish Long Thu Protrade Limited Company, invested by Ms Long Thu Vanessa (Oversea Vietnamese of Germany). The project is capitalized at USD400,000, aiming to develop the export of argricutural and forest products (capacity of 150-200 containers per year); fine art handicraft articles (capacity of 50-80 containers per year); stone products (capacity of 900m3 per year) and other products (capacity of 50 containers per year).

On 12 March 2009, the People Committee of Binh Dinh Province has just released a dispach approving in principle to allow Quy Gia Bao Trade Service Co., Ltd. to conduct a survey and planning of the tourist area project at the attraction No. 03 of Quy Nhon - Song Cau tourist route.

The Binh Dinh Province Association for Production and Import - Export of Wood and Forest Products (Forestpro Binhdinh) is a business information bridge and a forum for concerned enterprises to enhance cooperation.

The People Committee of Binh Dinh Province has just promulgated the Decision No. 479/QĐ-CTUBND dated 5 March 2009 on the establishment of Nhon Hoa Industrial Zone.

The Investment Promotion Center of Binh Dinh province has just released a dispatch sent to the Institute of Business Informatics under the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vietnam to introduce ten enterprises in the province producing the export items including leather and footwear, garment and textile, seafood and wooden products to attend the Program on applying e - commerce to support Vietnamese exporters to enter U.S. market.

Within the first two months, foreign direct investment (FDI) reaches USD 5.328 billion, equivalent to 70% of the same period last year, said the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), attributing this to the new approval and capital supplementation of some projects.

Vietnam Airlines-Quy Nhon office proposed the air firm to add one more flight on Quy Nhon-Hanoi route to four flights a week starting April 2009.
