At the hotel Eden in Quy Nhon City on 17 May, a seminar on "EU Market Access -Experiences and new information" held by Vietnam Chamber of Industry andCommerce - Danang Branch (VCCIDN) in collaboration with the Delegation of theEuropean Union in Vietnam.The purpose is to help enterprises, especially furniture businesses in Binh Dinhhave the opportunity to learn about and access to EU markets. The seminar was attended by the ViceChairman of the Provincial Standing Committee Mr Ho Quoc Dung; Mr Jean-JacquesBouflet, Counsellor of the EU Delegation; Mr Nguyen Cuong, VCCIDN Director and representativesof nearly 80 enterprises in the province.

At the seminar,Mr Jean-Jacques Bouflet introduced the traderelation and EU - Vietnamtrade agreement, the cooperation experience in trading with European partners. Inaddition, Mr Le Ky Anh, the economic and trade executive of the EU Delegationin Vietnamalso presented instructions on how to use some useful tools to access the EUmarket (Export Help Desk). It is a very useful tool for businesses to studyabout almost all information on policies, incentives, taxes ... for the goodsexported to the EU member countries.

Afterthe United States, EU is thesecond largest market for woodwork export of Vietnam. Vietnamis also the second largest woodwork exporter into the EU nations (over USD 622million in 2011), only after China. In Binh Dinh, the total exportturnover of wood and wood products in 2011 achieved nearly USD 470 million,accounting for 12% of the whole country; more than 90% wood products areexported to over 70 countries and territories. In European markets, Binh Dinhwoodwork make up a significant share in the total export turnover of Vietnam’s woodproducts. In 2011, according tothe statistics of the General Administration of Customs and Binh DinhDepartment of Industry and Trade, wood products exported to Germany achievedUSD 54.6 million, France  39.1million, the UK 22.9 million, and Netherlands 15.9 million ...
