Incentives for wastetreatment projects

In order to mobilize investmentin solid waste treatment and to improve the environment quality and communityhealth, the Prime Minister has recently issued Decision No.798/QĐ-TTg approvingfor the waste treatment program of the stage 2011-2020.

Accordingly, the nationalprogram consists of two stages: stage 1 from 2011 to 2015 and stage 2 from 2016to 2020.

The target is that by2020 90% municipal waste will be collected and properly treated, of which 85%recycled and reused; 70% rural solid waste collected and properly treated, ofwhich 60% recycled and reused; 90% non-hazardous industrial waste collected andproperly disposed, of which 75% recycled and reused; 90% hazardous industrialwaste collected and properly disposed; 100% non-hazardous and hazardous medicalwaste in health centers and hospitals collected and properly disposed.

Investment projects inthis area will be given incentives of land lease, taxes, infrastructureconstruction. Also support is offered for research and development of solidwaste treatment technology, labour training and credit loans as regulated bycurrent laws.
