The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Markus Lesser, Chairman and CEO of the Group and Mr. Thorsten Fastenau, Executive Vice President and Director in charge of offshore wind power. At the meeting, Mr. Thorsten Fastenau was pleased to welcome the provincial delegation in Germany, thanking the provincial leaders and concerned departments and agencies for their attention, creating favorable conditions and supporting the enterprise to promote the investment of the offshore wind farm project in the province, PNE will make every effort to coordinate with the province so that the offshore wind power project will soon be deployed in Binh Dinh.

Also at the meeting, Mr. Markus Lesser assessed: “Maybe before coming to Germany, the delegation did not have much information about us, about offshore wind power projects that we have implemented. However, through the field survey and working directly at the project sites, we have an opportunity to prove to the delegation that our Group has capacity, experience and finance to implement the offshore wind farm in Binh Dinh, Vietnam.

He also said “We chose Binh Dinh to deploy the project because we appreciate the wind potential, the strength of the geographical location, the investment procedures and Binh Dinh people… and especially we appreciate the enthusiasm and dedication of the leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee. Therefore, I believe that the project will be successful and soon be approved by the Government of Vietnam”.
Leader of Binh Dinh province presents a gift to PNE Group
At the meeting, Mr. Ho Quoc Dung informed PNE Group: "In February 2023, Prime Minister of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh had a business trip to Binh Dinh province and directed to remove difficulties and obstacles for the project and a consensus has been reached to assign the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam to consider and integrate the offshore wind power project of PNE Group in the national Power Development Plan (Power Development Plan VIII).
The two sides considered it as a very positive and optimistic signal and a motivation for the parties to continue the coordination and preparation of necessary procedures for project investment promotion and take the next implementing steps.
Also at the meeting, Mr. Roland Stanze, Executive Vice President of Finance Department PNE; Ms. Eva Nikolai, Managing Director of Pavana GmbH Company (wind measurement); Mr. Thorsten Fastenau, Executive Vice President of PNE Offshore Wind also made important presentations on the development strategy of the offshore wind project in Binh Dinh proposed by PNE Group.
The offshore wind power project in Binh Dinh proposed by PNE Group with a total capacity of about 2,000MW, total investment capital of about USD 4.6 billion. On October 22, 2020, Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee approved the policy for PNE AG to survey, research, install wind measuring columns, assess wind potential in some marine areas in Phu Cat and Phu My districts. The survey and research period is 12 months (from the date of issuing the approval).
By mid-April 2022, PNE handed over the Hon Trau offshore wind power project proposal to the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province. Accordingly, the project will build from 154 - 166 wind turbines, with a total capacity of up to 2,000 MW. It is expected that wind turbines will be located in a number of islands and sea areas in Phu Cat and Phu My districts, with the name "Hon Trau 1,2,3" in 3 phases of project implementation. Each phase has a capacity of about 700 MW. The project will build wind turbines by fixed pillar foundation and floating pillar foundation. The completion of the project will not only help increase the electricity output of Binh Dinh province, but also contribute to the investment, upgrading of seaport infrastructure, investment in the supply chain, industrial development and job creation for local people.
