Binh Dinh attracts 68 new investment projects in the fist 9 months of 2021

Although the attraction of investment and construction in the 9 months of 2021 encountered numerous difficulties and obstacles due to Covid epidemic, under the drastic direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, and concerned departments, agencies and localities, the results of the investment attraction in the first 9 months of 2021 have brought about many positive results.

In 9 months, Binh Dinh has granted approvals for 68 projects, total capital reached VND 39,236.74 billion (including 3 FDI projects with total capital of USD 40.34 million), many of these projects are in industry, real estate and construction. Significantly, out of 68 new projects, 37 projects are in industry with total capital of VND 1,914.89 billion, 21 projects in real estate, construction and infrastructure with total capital of VND 34,993.55 billion, 9 in trade, service and tourism sectors with total capital of VND 2,175.7 billion and one in agriculture worth VND 152.6 billion.

In addition, 12 existing projects registered to raise capital with an increase of VND 27,555 billion, considerably Hai Giang Merry Land tourist complex raised its capital by VND 26,981 billion.

To provide prompt support for businesses in the province, in August 2021, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to discuss solutions to mitigate difficulties for businesses and promote production and business in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic impact. The conference was attended by leaders of related departments, associations and businesses. At this conference, the Department of Planning and Investment (DPI) proposed to reduce the time to process investment procedures, considering it as one of the practical supports for investors in Binh Dinh and at present investment processing time for investment approvals has been reduced from 32 days to 25 days.

Besides, Binh Dinh PPC issued Decision No. 3937/QD-UBND dated September 24, 2021 on the establishment of a Working Group on Investment Promotion and Support of the PPC’s Chairman with the main task of promoting and supporting investors and businesses in the province.

DPI will review the investment attraction list for the new period, accordingly attracting investment will be focused on four economic pillars include: industry, information technology, high-tech agriculture and trade and tourism. A number of important fields shall be given priority, namely: large-scale and high-tech heavy industrial production, manufacture and information technology, high-tech agricultural production, livestock and aquaculture production, renewable energy and wind power, tourism and resort.

In the short term, the Working Group will focus on supporting key projects with a lot of capital such as: offshore wind power project of PNE Group (Germany); High-tech hot stamping and coating factory project of Kurz Group (Germany), Becamex VSIP Binh Dinh Township and Industrial Park of Becamex IDC, pig breeding project of Thagrico, Hai Giang tourist complex, Vinh Hoi tourist complex... Furthermore, the Working Group will support to accelerate the auctions and bids for eligible projects to generate revenue in the early future.

In the last months of the year, DPI will continue to promote the reform of administrative procedures, application of information technology for procedures related to investment activities, enhance investment promotion, support the existing projects, mitigate difficulties for investors to accelerate disbursement of projects.

The provincial leadership will hold a dialogue with businesses (expectedly in November), continue to review the implementation of projects, coordinate with relevant agencies to organize investor selection for projects in the processing of selecting investors…
