Australian Consulate General delegation pays a visit to Binh Dinh

On the morning of October 25th 2018, at the office of the Provincial People's Committee (PPC), the Vice Chairman Tran Chau and representatives of relevant departments had a meeting with Australian Consul General from Ho Chi Minh city, Madam Karen Lanyon, on the occasion of her delegation visit to Binh Dinh.

At the meeting, PPC Vice Chairman Tran Chau briefly introduced the natural characteristics, socio-economic situation and foreign investment in the province. He particularly emphasized that 2018 marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Australia diplomatic relation (1973-2018), so the province wished to further promote connectivity and to attract investment from Australia to the area.

Madam Karen Lanyon, Australian Consul General from Ho Chi Minh City asserted that she was impressed by the beautiful scenery and the hospitality of people in Binh Dinh. In the context of Vietnam's increasing economic growth rate, Australian ODA source for Vietnam is shrinking; however, funds of small-scale projects are still available from the Australian government via Direct Aid Program (DAP) administered by the Australian Consulate General. Therefore, the delegation strongly encouraged localities to pay attention to this program and prepare appropriate project proposals in order to obtain necessary assistance.

At the same time the Australian Consul General appreciated success of direct investment of Australian companies and corporations in Vietnam, including Marvin Group specializing in animal feed production and Viet Uc group specializing in shrimp production with successful projects in Binh Dinh. The Consul General pledged to introduce investors from Australia to Binh Dinh and strongly believed in the prospect of cooperation between the province in general and Vietnam in particular with Australia.

On the evening of the same day, the Provincial People's Committee held a warm meeting between the delegation and Binh Dinh Alumni in Australia.
