On 22^nd June, 2013 in the city of Hoi An, theMinistry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with Quang Nam Provincial People'sCommittee held a conference on "Meeting between central coastal provincesand diplomatic missions" in order to support these localities inimplementation of international economic activities. The conference was opportunity for the provinces tomake proposals to supports in promoting their potentials, strengths, establishinga bridge with oversea organizations and businesses. Photo: Vice Chairman Tran Thi Thu Ha (2nd from right)co-chaired the discussion.

The conference was attended by 60 Ambassadors, Consul Generals,representatives of Foreign Missions in Vietnam; 10 internationalorganizations including UN, ADB, WB, IMF,   AmCham , Eurocham, JICA, JBIC, KOICA ... and 50representatives of the central coastal provinces.  Binh Dinh team, led by Deputy Chairwoman Tran Thi ThuHa, had leaders of Department of Planning and Investment, Department of ForeignAffairs and Investment Promotion Centre.

"The central coastal provinces have vital strategiclocation and are rich in development potentials: This is the transportationaxis linking two major economic centres of the north and south, possessing along coastline with urban system evenly distributed and several deep-water seaports.This region has abundant human resource, advantages and demand of mining andagricultural-forestry-fishery processing, clean energy, petrochemical,mechanical, infrastructure development ... ", said Deputy Minister NguyenPhuong Nga.

In addition, this is the land of unique natural, cultural andhuman characteristics, great potentials in terms of tourism and culture with world-famousbeautiful beaches and cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO.

To promote those potentials, strengthening international cooperationand integration is essential in helping the central coastal province access to experiencesof other countries, taking advantage of resources and investment from outsideas well as promoting good image of the country and people of Vietnam.

At themeeting, Vice Chairwoman Tran Thi Thu Ha, together with representatives ofQuang Nam and Phu Yen provinces and Mr Ranjit Rae, Ambassador of India; Mr. KimHyon Sik, Deputy Chief Representative of KOICA co-chaired a discussion on"sustainable socio-economic development – strategic orientation and implementationsteps."

In thisdiscussion, Madamn Tran Thi Thu Ha said Binh Dinh had established the SteeringCommittee and issued Action Plan to implement the sustainable development strategyin Binh Dinh Provinceduring 2011-2020.

Accordingly,the overall goal is to increase sustainable economic growth and development,implement transformation of economic, labor structure, urban scale towardindustrialization and modernization, raise the proportion of Industry, constructionand services, reduce the relative rate of agriculture, forestry and fisheriesin the economic structure. It is expected that by2020, Binh Dinh will become a province with modern industry, a centre of trade,services and tourism in the region and Binh Dinh will actively contribute tothe development of the Central and Highlands keyeconomic region and the country itself.
