Prof. Tatsuro Matsuoka, Kagoshima University in Japan becomes advisor for fisheries sector in Binh Dinh

By the end of December 2015, in Quy Nhon City,with the participation of Sakai Hitoshi Kato Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association, MadameTran Thi Thu Ha, Deputy Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee (PPC)and concerning departments, Director of the Department of Agriculture and RuralDevelopment (DARD) and Professor Matsuoka, Dean of Fisheries department of KagoshimaUniversity signed a memorandum of understanding on fisheries sector advisor in Binh Dinh..

Accordingly, Mr TatsuroMatsuoka volunteers to work as part-time advisor for Binh Dinh province withthe support of fishing gear and techonology transfer project sponsored by JICA.

The advisor’s rolesinclude implementing Vietnam fisheries development strategy until 2020 in BinhDinh province, supporting for enhancing and managing tuna sector in general andtuna project sponsored by JICA in particular, providing consultation for sustainableaquaculture in consideration of Binh Dinh coastal condition, assistingtechnology transfer and hi-tech investment cooperation in Binh Dinhfisheries. Based on the MOU, two sides reached agreement on annualactivities to report to Binh Dinh PPC and the Japan-Vietnam FriendshipAssociation in Sakai. Two sides pledged to do their best to promote friendshipand cooperation.

In recent years, Japanis one of the trusted partners of Vietnam in general and of Binh Dinh inparticular. The relationship between two sides has rapidly developed in variousfields and achieved  more in-depthquality. Japan has maintained ODA to Vietnam in recent years and Vietnamis one of a few countries that Japan considers a "strategicpartner". The economy, cultural exchange relationship has continuouslyexpanded and formed framework for relations at macro level.

The fact that ProfessorMatsuoka becomes advisor for Binh Dinh’s fisheries sector is a good news forthe locality, which reflects endless effort and collaboration between Binh Dinhprovince and Japanese partners over the last few years.
