Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association in Sakai visit to Binh Dinh

From 05 to 08.11.2013, Mr Hirosuke Kato - member of Board of Directors Japan -Vietnam Friendship Association in Sakai, Japan and Mr. Masakazu Shoga - Fishery expert come to Binh Dinh to discuss investment cooperation and technical guidance in order to improve the tuna quality for export to Japan.
From 05 to 08.11.2013, Mr Hirosuke Kato - member of Board of Directors Japan -Vietnam Friendship Association in Sakai, Japan and Mr. Masakazu Shoga - Fishery expert come to Binh Dinh to discuss investment cooperation and technical guidance in order to improve the tuna quality for export to Japan.
During the time in Binh Dinh, the team met with Binh Dinh Fishery Joint Stock Company (Bidifisco) to discuss business cooperation, met with a number of fishing boat captains, tuna purchasing facilities, ship building and repair facilities in Hoai Nhon district in order to exchange techniques and improve tuna quality. The team also met with fisheries staff at the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) to talk about experience in fishing and preserving tuna products in Japan.
On the morning of 8th November 2013, Vice Chairman Tran Thi Thu Ha and leaders of the departments and sectors concerned had a meeting with the team. Mr. Hirosuke Kato reported to Vice Chairman Tran Thi Thu Ha on the visits outcomes. The Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association in Sakai committed to investing in equipment and providing technical guidance to help Binh Dinh improve fishing, storage and processing ocean tuna ensure export standards to Japan market. Initially, the Association will send two volunteers from Japan to Binh Dinh to directly transfer technical procedures and assist for 4 officers of the province to Japan to study the process of fishing, preserving and processing tuna for export. The Association also proposed establishment of a fishing, processing coalition for export tuna. Bidifisco is responsible for collecting, processing and shipping products to Japan for consumption within 10 days since tuna is caught. DARD is responsible for connecting, facilitating technological transfer to fishermen and businesses and building linking model. In addition, Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association in Sakai pledged to support the approval for 2 ODA projects of Japan, namely, supporting efficient and sustainable fishing of tuna resources and support to upgrade the shelter area for boats and ship in Tam Quan Bac (Hoai Nhon district). The two projects will contribute significantly to improving the quality and value of fishery products and ensuring sustainable development of fisheries.
Hirosuke Kato said that a representative office would be established in Binh Dinh in order to facilitate the transaction.
